Michele Ruck
Co-Commissioner
Michele Ruck comes to SCAA with 19 years of cheerleading experience. She cheered for many years before becoming a coach herself. Michele came to Steele Creek five years ago and currently serves as one of the Commissioners of the program as well one of the coaches for the competition squad. Michele has a true passion for cheerleading and is very proud to be a part of the SCAA cheer program and feels very fortunate to have this opportunity. Her focus is to provide a positive environment in which each child will be able to explore their individual capability as a cheerleader as well as learn how to work together as a team. Michele believes that if you have a “can do” attitude, anything is possible. You’ll find that Michele is a go-getter and expects the squads to go out there and give it their best each and every practice, game and competition.
Michele is looking forward to another successful season this year! The squads will be working on learning and improving old and new techniques and exploring new fundamentals based on squad capability. Michele is very excited to get the season started!! Go Seahawks! Go Xcite!!
Danielle Chriscoe
Co - Commissioner
Danielle Chriscoe is from Burlington, NC and moved to Charlotte to attend school at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She graduated from UNCC in 2006 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. She currently works at Livingston & Haven, an industrial technology provider in Charlotte, as their Corporate Communications Coordinator. Danielle started cheering at a very young age and has had a passion for the sport ever since. She started cheering on recreation teams in elementary school and kept with the sport by cheering for her middle and high school teams. Danielle has also been involved in competition cheerleading. She helped her competition squads bring home three national championships! Cheerleading has always been very close to her heart and she hopes to share that with all the participants this season.
Katessa Kennedy
Coordinator Consultant
Katessa Kennedy is no stranger to the SCAA Cheerleading Program. She has been a member of the Steele Creek Athletic Association for 5 years. Katessa has served as a Commissioner of the program for 4 years and assisted with coaching various age groups in our program. During the 2006 fall season, the Jr. Midget team competed at Nationals in Orlando, Florida taking home 8th place. This was the first time SCAA competed at a national competition.
Katessa is a very dedicated commissioner and parent within the Steele Creek Athletic Association. She has a clear understanding that Steele Creek and most other recreation programs depend on volunteers and parent participation to operate effectively, so she believes in being actively involved in the activities that she signs her daughter up for and enjoys working with parents who share the same belief.
Katessa is looking forward to this year's success as she works closely with the cheer staff to provide a safe, fun, structured informative cheer program that will give your child basic cheerleading fundamentals, creating a solid foundation for beginners and enhancing current cheerleading skills of others, giving them all the ability to move on to middle and or high school cheer programs.
Shannon Ives
Cheer Coordinator
Shannon joins the staff this year as our Cheer Coordinator. Shannon was the team mom for both our Pop Warner and competition team last season and did a fantastic job of organizing fundraisers and keeping our families informed. This season, she will be responsible for overseeing fundraisers, parent communication for games and competitions and events. She will also oversee our flag football cheerleaders this season as well.
Katie Britton
Head Coach - Xcite
My name is Katie Britton and I've been in the cheerleading industry for many years. I started out in Pop Warner when I was only 4 as a mascot, then escalated into middle school cheerleading then cheered for an elite High School Varsity team where we competed and won in regional, state and national competitions. After High School, I pursued an education and stayed very active in cheerleading at East Carolina University and finished my Bachelor's Degree in Communications at UNC Charlotte. I work in International Business currently, but my true passion lies with cheerleading. In addition, I have been a member of the UCA All Star program several years in a row in high school, which is decided by the UCA staff. I have also had over ten years of gymnastics training, and plan on applying that to our new competition squad. I also have training in elite stunting. I am more than thrilled to be a part of this growing squad, and will not settle for less than the best. SCAA already has a name, but I look forward to being a part of this new tradition and exciting season.
