Fall 2022 Baseball

Fall registrations are now open!

Reminders;

Umpires- our umpire scheduling agent notified us that they will no longer be able to provide umpires for games at SCAA and LKW fields. There has been a growing umpire shortage over the past several seasons and they are reducing the number of leagues that they will cover. We experienced this shortage firsthand last season with a number of games needing to be officiated by parent volunteers. We already have plans in the works to arrange umpires for our games, and you will likely see many of the same umpires at our fields again this season, just being scheduled via a different avenue. We also responded to this shortage last season by recruiting some of our parents and teenage players to undergo training and begin umpiring some of the younger division games. We need to expand on this strategy to cover games in the younger divisions (primarily Machine Pitch) so that we can prioritize the veteran umpires to the older divisions. Keep in mind that umpiring is a paid position for those that have undergone training and have the required gear and uniform. Please email   for more details if you would consider getting involved as an umpire. Parents will be scheduled to officiate games where their child is not playing, and scheduling can be worked around your availability. Seniors and 18U players will be scheduled around their own game schedules.

Intermediate Division (ages 11-13)- We will again play the Intermediate format for the fall, but will be returning to the Majors format for spring 2023.

Uniforms- the country has experienced supply chain issues over the past year, and this impacted us by not having all uniform items in time for our first games last season. To avoid this again, we absolutely must get our uniform order in early this season, which means we must also adjust our registration deadline (see below).

Registration deadlines- Our initial registration deadline for Machine PitchMinors, and Majors is Friday 8/19. The last player evaluation date for MP, Minors and Intermediate will be 8/20.  Caps my be put in place based on coaching availability.  Coaching needs are based on the number of teams, which of course is based on the registration totals. We will determine the number of teams for each division and then cap the number of total registrations for each age division to limit teams sizes to no more than 12 players. We will only accept “late registrations” up until the cap is reached for that age division, and no later than the day before teams are drafted. There is no guarantee we can accept a late registration, and IF accepted a late fee will be added, AND uniforms for players registered late are not guaranteed to arrive before first games. Please be sure to register early! TeeBall will continue taking registrations up until when teams are formed, however uniforms will not be guaranteed to arrive before first games for players registered late.

Juniors (13-14), Seniors (15-16), and 18U registration are open now. We will start preseason workouts in August on the weekends. Games will begin around Sept 10th and wrap up in Late October.

Coaching needs- due to the advanced timeline above, we need to line up coaching commitments as early as possible. If you have coached in the past (manager or assistant) or would consider coaching this season, please email   so we can get you into the loop. There will be a preseason coaches meeting and training and support is available for new coaches.

Player Evaluations (Machine Pitch (MP), Minors, Majors)- players must attend a minimum of one evaluation session. **players wishing to play-up a Division must attend an evaluation session for both their correct-age Division AND the older Division they wish to play-up to**.

ALL DIVISIONS- SCAA is a parent volunteer run organization. We are a non-profit, member-only association. All board members, commissioners, field maintainers, uniform/equipment/concessions/awards coordinators and other volunteers donate their time and effort to make our youth sports programs possible. Without volunteers, we don’t function. Added to the registration process this year is a drop down box to select how your family would like to pitch in with our program by volunteering. There are over a dozen options with varying degrees of time commitment to fulfill, and we recognize that family and personal situations may make certain roles difficult for some members, but at a minimum each family is expected to volunteer two shifts in the concession stand over the course of the season.

SCAA Baseball has structured the baseball divisions to be in line with Little League guidelines and the other Little League North Carolina District 3 associations. The structure builds our association from the T-Ball Division through Majors or Intermediate Division and then onto a full size field with the LL Junior and Senior League program.

Baseball Registration Notes:

Click on "Baseball League Age" which will show your players league age for the current season.  For Fall Baseball, SC-LL follows the age chart for the following spring season. Little League International REQUIRES a copy of Birth Certificates for all players.

For those players through age 12 from South Carolina (or NC outside of our LL boundary) that have NOT played spring season baseball at SCAA before, both Tega Cay / Fort Mill and Lake Wylie have active leagues in their area.  We strongly encourage you to register with your local league. More information about Lake Wylie Little League is available at www.lwsports.org and about Tega Cay Little League at http://www.tegacaysc.org. Players that have previously played spring baseball at SCAA while residing or attending school within our Little League boundary may continue at SCAA with full tournament privileges as long as you do not miss a spring season.
