Steele Creek Baseball

SCAA Baseball has restructured the baseball divisions to be more in line with Little League guidelines and the other North Carolina District 3 associations. This is a change that we hope will build our association from the Majors program through Tee Ball, and will put the emphasis on the Majors program being the place our best players in the association play!

NEW Age brackets for SCAA:
Majors: 10-12
Minors: 8-11
Coach Pitch: 6-8
Tee Ball: 5-6

Majors:
THE PREMIER DIVISION!! This is where you want your son or daughter to play. The Little League Baseball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls ages 10-12. During the spring season, the local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team may enter the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League Baseball.

Minors:
Minor League Baseball is designed for younger boys and girls with less playing experience. The minor league is used as a developmental league for the Major Leagues. The minor league may be players ages 8-11. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.

Coach Pitch:
Coach Pitch is designed for ages 7-8. 6 Year olds can "play up" if they have completed at least one year of T-Ball and their parents sign a waiver. Scores are kept. Still a learning division, but competitive. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and an adult pitcher throws a pitch from a distance of 40 feet.

Tee Ball:
Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls 5-6 years old who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. Later on in the year, some live pitching is permitted in this division. Generally, the diamond used is a a 50-foot diamond.

In 2008, Steele Creek celebrated being a part of Little League Baseball for 50 years!

SCAA, in affiliation with Little League Baseball International and Babe Ruth League, sponsors baseball programs for boys and girls ages 5 though 16.

Baseball's primary season is in the spring, followed by local and Little League and Babe Ruth tournaments in the early summer.  There is then a secondary season in the fall.

A local "Challenge" baseball program is also offered in conjunction with both seasons for the player desiring more play and local travel.
